Knackered door/window- 5 month old 110 (Video)
I haven't taken the door card off yet but it sounds nasty!

MY2013 with 7000 miles on the clock. Crappy build quality AGAIN.

Watch the video with the sound on.

It sounds like the rod that goes to the interior opener has come out of its clip and is rattling against the metal to me. Should be an easy job I think.

Edit: or something similar needs clipping back in

Its a strange one because the door lock and central looking still work.

It would still work as the rod to the interior door opener is ridged-ish and doesn't move with the central locking

I was going to attempt the repairs myself but was just concerned about screwing up the warranty.

If I have a go will the dealer then get out of repairing it under warranty if I can't sort it out or it needs parts?

If it's still under warranty I'd leave it to the dealer so, like you say, they can't refuse the warranty at a later date.

Yep, thats my plan. Just a shame they can't see me for a couple of weeks. I was more concerned about the glass disappearing into the door, i daren't use the drivers electric window.

If you think its just a connecting rod and that I should be able to lock the doors OK then i'll leave it for them to sort out.

Thanks for the advice.

Mines had just the same rattle for about a year now - just thought it's something that's become unclipped, and I'd get around to it someday...
So the good new is you probably won't loose the glass (as I haven't - yet)!
Bit reluctant to take the card off in case I break anything, - anyone got advice/instructions on door card removal?

Try and buy a trim removal tool/trim fork and just work around the door card slowly prizing it away from the door frame (after all screws have been removed) do not be tempted to rush!

IMO I'd fix it my self.It can be a slippery slope leaving dealers to fix faults,do it your self and do it properly, with a bit of care it's easy enough to take a door card off and you wont be without a vehicle for a day/week.You may have to buy the relevant door card clips not unusual for some of them to break. Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.

Thanks - if a clip on the card were to break, are they replaceable?
I.e. are they the xmas-tree type, that somehow clip into the card, that one should get spares of before attempting?

Edit - looks like Jim was typing same time - are they a dealer only item?
BTW - I tend to agree with Jim's point - small jobs are best dealt with yourself (even if the principle goes against the grain). I've had minor issues come back with more than I started with when dealers attempt to remove trim items!

I bought clips similar to these, altho still not fitted the ones I broke, lol.
Don't be surprised if you breaka few even using a trim removal tool,if you have manual window winders you need a hook of some sorts to remove the circlip/handle,other than that it's straight forward.

I could never be botherd to take it back and wait weeks for 10min job .. to be honest I don't trust dealers.. your better of with independent garages
mine had same noise . bolts loose where glass bolts to regulator, worth checking .. I left mine for awhile then had to do it when glass dropped down inside door (done it myself)
