Stolen bonnet and heated seats
Can you help

Well got up thursday morning 14th jan to find some theiving bast..d had stolen my bonnet and seats disbeleif i know why take the risk. The 2008 defender was parked on my drive under security lighting, it had a standard factory alarm fitted.I spoke to my dealer marshalls at lincoln from whom i bought the defender and asked them if there was anything they can do for this not to happen again, their reply was that I should get some one to fit a better alarm. Why they didn't tell me this before driving my new defender away makes you wonder. Can any one recommend what alarm to fit plse...i have been told that toad is a good one.

Alarm
Hi,
Sorry about the thieving B.... who stole your bonnet and seats.
You should go to the website of Insurance companies who have a standard for alarms.
I find it quite strange the alarm didn't go off espaecially if you have the perimetric alarm and battery sounder (I have this in mine) as the minute an intruder fiddles with the alarm wires or enters the car - the alarm goes.

Sorry to hear about what has happened Sad They should have their hands chopped off.

The issue with these Land Rovers is that the alarm can be dissabled in 2 seconds if you know what you are doing ( I am not going to say on here). I think I have a £5 remody fo this is issue which I will be testing over th next few weeks. Other option would be to go down the aftermarket route.

Welcome to the club. Had the same happen to me, except they took my doors too. Where in the county are you?
As for the alarm, any system other than a land rover one will be good. My new alarm sounds if anyone walks upto the side of the vehicle, which is a good deterant.

I had an idea about this and disscussed it with the deallers yesterday to see if I did it they would not get upset about it with warranty issues.

Mse if as you imply you have a 'fix option' would you please consider sharing this with other forum members. You could use the same means by which AndrewS gave out his 'remote locking' modification if you have the time and the inclination of course! Thank you!
