Headlamp Guards
I have the type of head lamp guard that can (in theory) be opened to access the lights by undoing the top bolts and folding downwards. As long as I have had the vehicle 2 of the top bolts have been loose but still captive and couldn't be undone, which I assumed was because a rivnut had let go when the bolt was partly undone. Having decided to fix it finally at the weekend I readied 2 new m6 rivnuts and snipped off the first bolt. However with the other bolt undone I discovered the hole was far too big for the rivnut and on looking at the other found it was an odd looking plastic fitting with a metal thread in the middle. I think they are Gen LR guards, but have never seen a fastening like this. I have tried googling but found nowt like it. Anyone know what they might be or where to get a replacement?.

Plan B is to tap an m6 thread into a plasterboard fixing but I not optimistic that this will work.

I have put a washer and wing nut on the offender on the nearside one, but can't get my had to the back of the offside one.
