Any idea the recommended Power steering fluid for the Puma?

Grateful for suggestions

Not that you will likely have Halfrauds by you.

But a Censored to find in any motor factors when you need it...especially in Inverness, on a Sunday Mike

For hotter climate?
Hi, we live closer to the equator so there is average 30 C temperature all the time. I could not find this Landy manual recommended power steering oil type ''Cold Climate Fluid 33270'' in my country. Anybody got any suggestions for alternate model or product for power steering oil. Appriciate. Cheers!!! Very Happy Very Happy

Have a look at the pipe work from the power steering reservoir from underneath the vehicle. Some vehicles, including my 2008 Puma had leaks owing to under tightened joints in pipe work.Very easily tightened and stopped my loss of powersteering fluid.
Never found any one who stocked the Texaco Cold Climate stuff other than a dealer. You can get long life 5 year stuff which should see you O.K. for the occasional top up.If it is a major drop in fluid level or constant small top ups you probably have a leak, so check the pipe work from the reservoir. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Many thanks spudfan.

I found leaks from the power steering oil resevoir lid in my previous 300tdi CSW but i think it was when over filled. I guess same thing happened to puma also but im sure it was not over filled. Now the fluid level indicator lid is at barely touching the bottom edge so should refill mine. Cant see any other leak. Dont know may be its landy.

Has anyone used any other brand or type PS oil other than the book?

Cheers! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Steering box fluid
Hi,

After a small leak from the steering box for while and tightening all connections , I eventually had to replace the steering box as it leaked from the seals.

I had the steering box replaced under warranty on the 2008 Puma. Found a little dampness on it, nothing major but as it was under warranty I got it changed. Any motor factors will sell you an additive like radiator sealant, but for your power steering system which might be a short term solution for you.
Regarding other brands. If you get a decent specification fluid, just see how long it is before you are recommended to change it-it will be on the label. It might not have the life expectancy of the Land Rover recommended fluid but once you keep within the stated time frame for changes on the label you will be O.K.
I always view these things things as if I were in the back of beyond. You will not always be able to get the stuff recommended by Land Rover, but if you buy decent stuff and change it more frequently you will be alright. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel
