Towing electrics
Hi All.

We've just bought our first caravan, a 2011 Sterling Elite Emerald. As we're both new to this any help and advice would be most welcome. I need to have fitted a 12s (grey) electric socket. I already have the 12n (black) socket fitted along with the tow bar. The caravan has the new style 13 pin plug fitted. I will use an adapter to connect them together.

My local Dealer has quoted me £277 to supply and fit the electrics and £94 for the adapter. I have seen adapters online for around the £25 mark so won't get it from LR. Does it seem as steep to you as it does to me? I don't want a local tow bar fitter to splice/cobble it together, so I'm assuming LR hard wire it to the loom?? Any thoughts? Pls PM me.

Regards Mynstral Smoke me a kipper I'll be back for breakfast.

Do you tow anything else (with a 12n plug)?
If so, the adaptor's the way to go.

I would do a proper job and get your electrics swapped out to the new combined 13 pin socket. If you need to use a 7 pin plug then you can use a cheap adaptor. John

Hi Laurie, yes I have access to various plant trailers. So will need the Black socket. Smoke me a kipper I'll be back for breakfast.

Then just fit a 12s socket using a relay pack bought from any caravan shop (wiring diagram included)

The kits are quite expensive, anyone know what components are needed to wire the 12s socket? A easy to follow wiring diagram would be good to. Just bought a caravan and I need to wire this up if anyone can help I would be grateful.

Thanks
