I was lucky on Street View, there was a Council truck parked in our street blocking it from filming the whole street and Google Earth was taken before we moved in Thumbs Up

I had to request Google to fuzz my rear numberplate since their auto-fuzz s/w apparently didn't recognise it. There is a button somewhere on the page to do this.

They have however still got my bum in the picture (I had my head in the engine bay at the time)!

What about a big Censored and balls instead, that would probably be unique.

For OP, as most Defenders get nicked at night, instead of stickers you could use LED light tubes to make up the image

You dont need LED light tubes, just IR paint or stickers so it shows up for the police helicopter.

All the chevrons we had on our wagons during Telic 1 were in IR paint. Sandy

Only just spotted this post.

The Skytag roof stickers (not to be confused with the tracker company of the same name, there's no link) use an adhesive that is a good few times stronger than your average vehicle decal. Also, the stickers themselves are finely cut in many places (sure there's a more technical term for it) so that they break up when an attempt is made to remove them. The adhesive residue is also more of a pain to remove I'm told too. So, all in all, a ball ache for somebody to remove but ultimately it's still possible. From memory, you also get a couple of warning stickers but mine were missing or I lost them.

The LandyWatch 'LW' prefix was something just specific to that forum. You can put what you like, limited by space and your imagination. I ended up with LW4. We're up to about LW mid 50's I think and if it ever clocks over to LW100 and beyond, then the stickers may have to go front to back rather than side to side. Its probably possible to drop the size of the sticker though if you did want more characters.

Whatever code you chose, it's specific to your vehicle. Providing nobody else has taken it

£30 a pop, and not overly onerous to apply, although you only really get one go at it.

Given the expedition rack, I had to locate mine at the front of the roof, which does make it more visible from ground level.

A few more piccies - last one on a Disco

So all in all, a fairly cheap extra layer of potential deterrent and perhaps a slightly greater chance of vehicle recovery IF you don't mind having a f*ck off big sticker on your roof and you hope the scrotes don't stick it on the back of a trailer and cover it with a tarp! Shocked . So, clearly, not a stand alone solution. Jon - 110 td5 [sold]. Currently Defenderless.

Sorry for the thread resurrection but just a bit of further feedback... To quote from my previous post....

It took me about twenty-five minutes, my thumbnail and quick rub over the adhesive residue with some meths to completely remove any trace of mine. My sticker has been on for about three years. If anything, Skytag (not the tracker company) need to cut the stickers into smaller pieces and then that would be far more of a pain to remove.

So, I still like the idea but the claims that the adhesive is five times stronger and it takes ages to remove should be taken with a pinch of salt...

If anyone is wondering why I decided to remove it... I'm planning to remove my roof-rack and so was going to put a new sticker at the back of the roof, where previously the bars of the rack would have prevented it. Jon - 110 td5 [sold]. Currently Defenderless.

Done the same, there is a web based form that you fill in, takes about two weeks for them to either remove or blur out the image.

You are obviously relying on the hope the Police will put a helicopter up in the air or the vehicle will be driven/transported once stolen through a high-rise city with loads of people spotting on their balconies for your truck.

Invest in a decent tracker system is in my opinion the very best security safeguard. I drove onto one of the vessels I work on a few weeks ago and had an instantanious call from my security provider requesting my details and asking if everything was ok. Reassuring to say the least.

Partymonkey don't wish to saddle/burden you with anything but did you manage to update your tracker database on cost/deals etc it was a very handy tool for anyone in the market for a good security system? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!!
