Towing an artic
Our ramp into the yard froze over swiftly this evening, though I had cleared it before but suddenly a sheet of ice appeared and no salt available. So, I hauled an artic in with the 110. Slightly worrying was that the only chain we had was 6ft long, so the cab was very close to the rear of the Puma! It wasn't fully laden with 20 pallets packaging, so I put it in low range and 2nd gear, and after a 10 minutes of me sliding, and the artic also sliding nearly into our buildings, it finally got up the ramp. i was wondering whether I should have engaged diff lock, and the possibility of snapping a diff or maybe a UJ? Another artic turned up fully laden a few mins later with 25mt onboard but with the extra weight and more power, it steamed up the ramp.. I didn't fancy towing that!!

Yes I think engaging difflock would help. Roel

Why not:

&feature=related

You don't even need a driver.

I rather would not use a chain. I prefer something with some stretch. As in the video. Roel

I always end up having to drag ours. This was just before xmas and is the worse of our two big ones. It's 28t empty and because to the 800 Fassi on the back of the trailer there is little wieght over the drive axel.
It doesn't help that my driver likes to make a drama out of eveything Rolling Eyes

I pulled a tractor unit out from under a trailer in our yard with a chain.. Low Range & Diff Lock enabled.
Remember, you're not pulling the full weight of the TRUCK, or should I say it's not a dead weight as presumably the artic driver had 4th gear engaged also and the TRUCK will be sliding around on the ICE..

Nice work though, my boss never even thanked me for my efforts.
Without it our yard would have been closed all day..

Thumbs Up Love in this order; Burnley FC, Defender, Kids, Wife, LOL
