Another steering wheel question?
Hi guys

Im after this Momo wheel for my 2013 90

http://www.momo-uk.co.uk/gallery/tuning/st...-wheel.htm

but after reading through the many steering wheel threads Ive come to the conclusion its not as straight forward as I initially thought.

I want a smaller wheel for more arm room but dont really want the boss to move the steering wheel closer to me, does anybody make a boss that will achieve this? I dont want to make one up as Im sure to make it look rubbish and i want it to look factory quality.

Also does fitting a smaller wheel alter or cause any handling issues?

Thanks guys

It says available in 350mm diameter only. Isn't that the same as the existing one? Darren

350mm is the "sportier" smaller diameter wheel - I've got one. Thanks to power steering, I find the handling is fine (no better or worse than the original) with the advantage that the indicators etc. can be flicked when your hand is still on the wheel (at least on LHDs). I don't have a problem with the deeper boss because I have seat risers and sit further back. Combined with a raised cubby, the whole lot means I can cruise with one elbow on the window frame and the other on the cubby top Thumbs Up

You are right to be concerned about how some aftermarket bosses move the wheel away from the stalks, check out the two photos of my old 90 shown below. The wheel is a Raid 12-inch which I have been using for years and find very comfortable.

For a long time I ran with the standard boss plus a Snap-Off adaptor and you can see that flicking the stalks with your fingertips was out of the question, it was necessary to remove your hand from the wheel. Take away the adaptor and the situation was only slightly improved and you still had to let go the wheel to indicate or operate the wipers.
The second photo shows the current set-up. I got rid of the adaptor and had the boss shortened so the wheel is much closer to the stalks and operating them can easily be done without moving your hand.

Mine's a standard Raid boss - never have problems with the indicator stalks, headlight switch etc:

Think I may just have long fingers - plus I don't grip the wheel like a man possessed

Hi guys

Many thanks for all your help and advice.

I will contact Twisted and see what they want for a slimline boss as that seems at this stage to appear the way forward for me.

Thanks again guys Bow down
