Bio Ethanol fires
While hunting for a replacement fire for the lounge I came across the usual Gas / Electric ones and then found these

Does anyone use/have a Bio Ethanol fire in their house?
If so what are your thoughts? Are they as some sites suggest 100% efficient?

The gas fire we currently has only been used a handful of times over the 12 years we have been in the house. 1999 Defender TD5 110

100% efficient you would expect the chemical potential energy to be completely transformed into heat which is put where you want it.

Seen these in B&Q, you can buy bio ethanol camp stoves so they must be able to throw out some heat.

I have one, Excossack. They are great for decorative/focal point effect but you wouldn't want to rely on them for warmth. On the B&Q site there are no kw output stats - basically they 'take the chill out of a room'.
But for occasional use (which your post suggests its for) they're great Thumbs Up

PS if you run out of bio fuel you can always use diesel or petrol ! Laughing

They do luck rather funky fires and a bit more interesting than your standard gas/electric fire.
Might go and have a look at some at the weekend. 1999 Defender TD5 110
