Had this rattling banging type noise on my 2008 Puma when new. It turned out to be the bush or hinge insert on the bonnet hinge driver's side That was at fault. The bush or insert will either be missing, worn or put in wrong way 'round allowing the metal of the hinge to come into contact with the bulkhead and the noise travels, seemingly coming from everywhere but the bonnet.
Won't take more than a few seconds to check it out. The bush or insert will either be missing, worn or put in wrong way 'round. Hope this is your problem as it is easily sorted. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel
