Snorkels for 2.4 Pumas
Really I'd like a mushroom top metal one (so I can paint it Tonga Green Mr. Green )....

The Mantec "plastic jobby" looks tacky, & the name is derogatory & uninspiring. For plastic the Safari looks better.

Are there any metal mushroom top snorkels that are suitable for 2.4 Pumas? If so please advise. Or can a mushroom top be fitted to a Safari if not? Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. I'm sure that snorkels aren't engine specific. If that add says 2.2 then it will fit to the 2.4 too so long as you confirm that it's the correct side for your fender in take

This is what it would look like, I have not fitted it yet as I need to get up the courage to drill through the A pillar to fit it.

Engineering solution!

Why drill the A-pillar at all? Bond the bracket with Sikaflex 291i instead!!!! Thumbs Up If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

^^^^ That's assuming the paint will stick to the metal enough to support the snorkel Whistle Whistle

The instructions for Safari also state drill out the mounting holes to 16mm does that mean you automatically drill out to that size? No! With careful alignment you can get away with 12mm only......

Engineering solutions are invariably always met with sceptisysm.....

Sikaflex 291i sticks to just about anything that is non-greasy. You just need the patience to allow it to cure first. Most of the support is provided by the larger mounting bolts lower down not the A-frame ones. Fine, should it not work for you what have you lost? Then you'll just have to crack on and drill the holes as instructed.

Another 'Engineering Solution' is of course that the inferior coating on the pillar bracket rots out in about four-five years. So if possible get a stainless bracket made from the onset....then again it'll probably be the wrong material/gauge colour for some perhaps?

OK calm down dear... I was merely speculating/joking on the naff paint finish of LR's and that the paint will probably fall off with the snorkel attched to it Rolling Eyes
