Tag & French Autoroutes
On my recent holiday to the Pyrenees I used the Sanif Toll Tag which you can get in the UK. Magic. Worked perfectly and certainly surprised some of the French motorists waiting in the que to pay as a black Defender with UK plates sailed through. Made SWMBO very happy.
Although the area we visited, around Gavarnie had been hit by seriously devastating floods and some roads had been damaged/ washed away was able to drive some of the mountain roads and got upto 7500 feet and play on the snow of the car park. Then I was joined by 4 cyclists on a mountain training run. My hats off to them having ridden up almost 3500 feet by pedal power only. The run back to Caen was great and my 2010MY 90 XS performed faultlessly on the autoroute keeping to the limit where possible, and whatever you think about French motorists they seem to follow the rules on the Autorouts unlike the UK middle lane hoggers. If you're going to France this is a must have. No fiddling for change via the passenger door. Straight through (at 30kmph)with no queue.

Do they work ok with the heated windscreen? any tips on positioning?? The instructions say just behind rear view mirror - is that ok with the heated windscreen. Thanks for the tip - we have got one ready. Sorry though I read your first post and then ordered one before you posted the offer!! Thanks again

Here is a another question for you, did you get charged class 2 over 2m high or class 1 under 2m and did the Defender fit under the 2m barrier.

The 110 always seam to get under the 2m, after a winge sometimes,,

With the roof tent on, some measure you over,, just press the button, and shout "camping car" they then check the camera, and re-adjust the toll !!! Very Happy California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1

Tag fitted behind rear view mirror on heated screen. No problem. I have a 90 with no roof rack, so no problem with 2m height barrier.
Have fun. Thumbs Up LANDYWATCH

I've got a 110 with roof rack and three roof boxes on. So I think I will have to use the lanes marked for >2m. Haven't done it before though - just what I was reading in the instructions. I need to make sure though that i onloy pay for 'car with roof box' rather than a van.

Just a note to others going this, you can buy through the French web site and save some money, the UK site applies a premium.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

you need an address in France

from the sanef web site ...

Why have Sanef created this new service?

Having used the French motorways many times we have seen an opportunity to speed up travel for UK drivers and holiday makers. Whilst the Autoroutes are great roads, many people have been frustrated at not being able to use the automatic télépéage / tag lanes. These lanes save time because they avoid both queuing and having to keep Euro cash handy to pay tolls. Following a decision by the majority of French Toll Road Operators, new subscriptions must be via direct debit and existing credit card accounts will be phased out before the end of 2012. This means it is no longer possible for UK customers to register on French websites unless they have a French address and French bank account.
So to enable UK customers to continue to use the Liber-t service, we have implemented a dedicated UK IT system and Customer Service centre in Harrogate to enable UK motorists to pay in GBP via direct debit from a UK bank account.
