well i guess this makes me famous or provious that customer services listens, my hand brake failed early this year and is in the vin range, i also got some damage due to this,
 i started a recall 
on a serious note i park rear down hill at about 20 degree's so i guess it pool'd quicker in the drum, lesson learn'd leave the car in gear! |

I checked my logbook and I had this problem at the beginning of 2008 (10.000 km). It was repaired but I'm afraid that the repair made at that time was with the same system than the old.

This is the same felt washer that they have been using for ever and this is the first "safety recall"!! Amazing.
In the text of the recall document under technical Q&A item 8 says replacing the felt washer with a rubber one!!! Seems that their quality assurance is not too great. |

Received my letter this morning, this is after it went in for this in June, as with most others on here it hasnt worked,
Its wet thro all over the outside of my drum  DEFENDER XS CSW 08 TONGA GREEN |

My dealer phoned up yesterday to tell me about these.
They said my VIN was identified as being within range of the park brake recall. They also described another "recall" around the MIL combined with a loss of power from a sticking high pressure rail control valve. I looked this up and it isn't technically a recall but is fixed with a software update for the PCM (powertrain control module). The code for this one is Q068v4_UK (or ROW for non-UK). Summary below: "When driving following a cold engine start where the engine coolant temperature is <5>35° and a gear change is made at an engine speed of >2000rpm there is a possibility that the High Pressure rail control valve can stick and cause high rail pressure, which trips a diagnostic, relieves the rail pressure causing the customer to see an engine Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) light on with restricted performance and P1169 and/or P0089 Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) stored in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Action to be taken You are requested to contact the owners of the affected vehicles and request that the vehicle is made available at the earliest opportunity for the vehicle to be inspected and where necessary reconfigure the engine PCM with the latest calibration files." After one month asking for this to the dealers, today the spares needed to make the change arrived. So we will be on the dealers next week, probably, to make the change (together with one electric door lock that doesnt work). One question. ¿How much time should take?
