intake gaskets 2.4 not available at present
So was thinking about removing the intake manifold to get easier to the VCV and also clean it out.

Just been told by a well known landrover supplier of genuine parts that landrover dont have stock of the gaskets and dont have an ETA.

Will now try my local dealer (as they may have loads on the shelf, or the local ford garage) but dont really want to fit aftermarket (blue bag) for the intake manifold.

Or am I just paranoid.

Is there any other bits you guys have recently tried to order but are currently not available? Rolling Eyes Searching for my first Defender...and started just as Covid hit, so talk about timing.

If no joy at the dealer, try and get the Ford part no. . I can't believe there are none in existence given how many transits have this engine. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

I used some 'unbranded' ones a couple of months back for the same reason you describe.

The quality seemed good... But then my engine ate itself so who knows Laughing > 110 XS Double Cab

Thanks for the confidence booster.

If my engine eats itself in 2 weeks we know what the common thread is here.

How is Landrover working though, do they never take off the intake these days as they always fit genuine parts Searching for my first Defender...and started just as Covid hit, so talk about timing.

You totally don't need to remove the inlet manifold to replace the VCV. I have big shovel hands and poor eyesight and managed just fine.

Just pull out the vacuum pipe (press the collar in while pulling the hose out) and disconnect the fuel line via the quick release. The rest pushes out the way.

I did try the other week but my tools were not long enough and clashed. So I have brought a longer Allen let but want the option if I break something I can take off the inlet manifold. Also have an egr error, though it does the noise when you turn it off just want the safety blanket of having the parts Incase I want to take off the manifold.

And as most spares here are not kept on the shelf don’t want to have the car off the road for two weeks whilst customs decide if the 2.38p item that’s just cost me 20 quid to ship from the uk deserved a €60 admin fee, import taxes and anything else they can think of.

Local Ford and Landrover garage tell me they can not get them , I can order from autodoc but have had issues with them in the past (used parts coming, or a different make etc, or once the totally wrong part ) Searching for my first Defender...and started just as Covid hit, so talk about timing.
