Well, the story continues.
I spoke to Tim at Mobile Centre about upgrading my alarm from a Cat 2 to a Cat 1. Tim, rather than just take my money ![]() I checked the Thatcham site for details of Cat 1 and Cat 2, and obviously Tim was correct – the MY13 kit meets Cat 1 status. I spoke to my broker and they seemed to think that as the insurance company hadn’t requested proof of a Cat 1 being fitted everything would be ok. I was pretty sure that if the Defender were stolen that they might then check up on the alarm status, so continued to dig. I asked the dealer for information on the Thatcham Category of the fitted alarm – they couldn’t provide any details ![]() I’m talking with my insurance company about what to do next – I don’t really want to pay out a load of money for what will actually be a sheet of paper saying my car has a cat 1 alarm fitted. A big thanks to Tim for his help ![]() Defender 110 XS CSW 2013 |

Only a suggestion.
How about asking Mike@Landrover if they intend to submit a 2013 for checking. Don't make old people mad. We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to ![]() Richard |

Land Rover do a whole vehicle type approval process so when the 2.2 came out MY2012 they would of submitted that for homologation. They will not carry out individual approvals as it will cost too much money.
The battery backed up siren was a cost option on the 2.4 so could of been homologated as they have carried it over to the 2.2 but just seem to fit it standard now. |
