Along with my amazing co-team members, I am walking 55 miles in aid of the Air Ambulance. 55 miles? how hard can that be? It's a thought that crossed my mind when I signed up. A mere stroll in mid-summer.
I should have thought harder about the reality. This week I did a training walk and it took me 2.45 hours to walk 8 miles. With that as the yard stick, it comes in at a sobering 17 hours of walking. But here is why I'm still in the game... The Air Ambulance has saved thousands of people’s lives who simply would not have survived injury if they had to wait for a road ambulance or simply couldn't be reached by a road ambulance. These guys do this day after day doing their miracles with no government funding. We all take this stuff for granted but chances are we just might need this ourselves or one of our loved ones will in our life time and at that time, right then and there would you give a pound, a fiver, a tenner to ensure a helicopter was coming to get them in minutes or say it I'll take my chances and see how they fair on the hour plus trip in, if indeed they were accessible. I'm a lucky and have lovely children who arrived into this world safely. What if a child was coming and baby needed to get to neonatal car URGENTLY. Air Ambulance can now fly babies in aircraft specially adapted to carry the latest specialist paediatric medical equipment. This can be the difference between life and death for that child. Heavy stuff but if you have kids you'll know how intense those birth times can be and if something went wrong you'd want the best chance right - Air Ambulance will give that child the best chance if they were in that position. So... if you feel the love and are thinking of showing your support, it couldn't be easier. You can pledge your support online here from your phone or computer: www.justgiving.com/flyingmonks You can simply text £1, £5 or £10 per example below. Text 'TTFM75 £5' to 70070 THANK YOU!!! |

Well done. I walked a marathon once (at Ironman NZ which is why I walked, went way too fast on the bike) and it's quite a challenge.
How long did it take you? |
