Buy an OBDC reader, ( for example an ultraguage) these plug into the truck diagnostics port and will enable you to read and reset any errors.

Frenchy,
Pound for pound the Scangauge II is the best tool for the job.... ![]() Bit more helpful than my last post perhaps? Couple of links: ![]() http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic9642.html?highlight=pound http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic4510.html?highlight=scangauge If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! totally wrong Mal, the UltraGauge has a better screen and is more flexible than the scangauge.

I'll run with Lorryman's comments thanks! Think he may be a bit more 'knowledgeable!'
Also I have a Scangauge and it does everything I want. Thanks anyway. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! Last edited by K9F on 25th May 2013 8:49am. Edited 2 times in total |

There is/was a Scangauge E which is not really suitable for a Defender as it is pitched at the more 'economical' driver/vehicle. I can't personally comment on the Ultragauge as I don't have any experience, others obviously will, and will comment accordingly on both as they deem theirs the best (human nature). The Scangauge can be configured using the X-codes to display further codes such as BHP etc.
Bunfighting and opinions aside you make up your own mind but please take your time and read up on the links I posted above. Remember you get what you pay for. There are a lot of cheaper code readers on the market too. May be worth looking at them dependant on your needs and budget of course. Lorryman is/has been a font of knowledge on the fault reader front and helpful too. The threads above may be dated and information ammended, may be worth dropping him a 'pm' and asking him for an up to date opinion.
