Temporary Vinyl
Hi all,

My 'fender will soon be wearing it's working hat when it becomes the support vehicle for our yearly Mountain Bike Holiday Support vehicle.

Over the last few years I've placed A3 Laminated sheets in the rear sliding windows advertising, but also allows people to realise why there's a dodgy guy sitting in a Land Rover on the side of the road. Laughing

This year, I'm considering going for Vinyl. I've had vinyl on past vehicles (and race cars) but looking for a more temporary glue that means I can remove easily once the holidays are over.

Anybody have any ideas? Most will just be plain white text (on black bodywork), but would also like to have the logo too, although appreciate it may have to be cleaned up as the wording might be too detailed for a cutter. This is the logo, although I'd reverse it to white.

Will they stick and stay stuck? There's not too much metal on the doors?

It's an idea I did think about, but has the same affect as the laminated sheets in the windows. I just wanted it to look a bit more pro. Craig Rogers

Too complicated to be vinyl cut.

I suggest a digital print onto vinyl

Use a standard vinyl and remove it in a warm environment / hair dryer, clean up any glue residue with white spirit followed by meths and then soapy water

The door skins on a Puma are steel, magnetic vinyl seems to stay stuck to Sprinter vans at 100mph as they shoot past on the M40 Shocked  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

In the end I did decide for the magnetic approach after the lesson in metal work!

It means I can also whip the signs off when I'd rather be a bit more discreet.

That looks smart Thumbs Up

Is it black magnetic vinyl with white on top or printed in one go?

Hope the event goes well.

X-isle, I used normal sign writing vinyl (£couple of quid a metre from ebay).
The truck had zebra stripes on for 4 years, got bored of it this year and spend £10 on orange vinyl and now it's a tiger!!
The old white vinyl peeled off fine with a hair dryer after 4 years and only required a quick rub over with a bit of polish once removed. the paint work was unmarked underneath.

That looks cooooooool! Better not show the other half that as she'd have the Landy tiger printed!

As for the magnetic sign colour. I'm not sure if it's black printed white or the whole print. I just uploaded the design and they sorted the rest. I suspect it's the whole print though as I had to make sure I covered the bleed areas with the background colour. Craig Rogers

All good except the bonnet. I think there's too much airflow over the Puma bonnet and it came off at 50mph. Luckily it stuck to the roof rack so I didn't lose it. Craig Rogers
