Ihad he ame problem no light couldn't get the diff lock lever to go far enough over.
It was the linkage seized, it looked to be moving fine but when it all came out the lower link had rusted solid.
Took it all bits loosened it off and threw it back to gether some slight adjustments and hey presto diff lock working again.
The light issue could be a faulty switch, check with a wire between the terminals to make sure dash bulb is ok then work out if switch needs replacing or linkage is stuck. The switch can also be in too far preventing the diff lock engaging.
BEWARE if you replace the switch don't do as I did and over tighten it as mine sheared off leaving the threaded brass barrel still in the transfer box housing, had to get a set of easy out on it.
All in all it's a pain in the arse removing the gear box tunnel but satisfying to sort it out yourself.
There is a video on youtube somewhere I got the link from this site so if you hunt about it's there and worth a watch.
DRW I built a garage for my Mini
With a place for everything and everthing in its place.
Ten years down the line there's a Mini in there somewhere, and Censored all's where it should be!!!! Ho hum
