300 Tdi .... for sale

Not sure if your allowed to sell on here if not please remove

If you look at my other thread here you will see I've just purchased a 300Tdi .Not to go into detail again I've decided to move it on . The car will be for sale as soon as I receive the V5

Right an accurate description of the car so no-one is left feeling like me

Definitely not excellent

1996 300 Tdi

Engine good 132000 miles
tiny oil leak high front right hand side as you look at it (looks like manifold gasket common fault)
tiny oil leak high front left hand side as you look at it quite certain its the cyclone wanting a good wash out again common fault
Oil at joint between bell housing and engine possible crankshaft rear oil seal so if you take it as that and its not its a bonus
Turbo good
Cam belt supposedly changed 12mths ago but no proof so take it as it needs changing
Pulls well nothing nasty or noisy no smoke on start or acceleration

Gear box and drive train good and original so miles as above
selects all gears fine hardly if any backlash in the drive train at all, high low fine but stiff to select diff lock think just linkages need lubricating once in works and disengages fine
Drives good slight wandering in steering but nothing out of the ordinary

Body work
Good no badly dented panels drivers door couple of small dents but over all quite straight corrosion starting bottom of doors, rear door getting bad

Wheels and tyres

NOT NEW but in good condition plenty of tread left no wheel locking nuts previous owner removed before he sold only 4 modular rims spare is an old steel with a new tyre

Chassis
from rear cross member coming forward really weak until just forward of the rear springs cross member patched both sides on rear face, cross member patched on bottom onto main rails, heavy patching nearside face main rails not the best job, near side main rail badly corroded and holed to 3 sides at low point just forward of rear spring, main rail really weak behind nearside spring hanger (paper thin ) so what does it need

Not sure if you can buy a half chassis for a 90 but definitely needs more than a qtr. if you do fit a qtr chassis main rails will need considerable patching. The front seems ok I wouldn't want to go hitting it with a hammer mind there is a lot of heavy flakes emerging from the holes at the front dumb irons and that has to come from somewhere

Anyway I'm supposed to be selling this so enough putting you off
If your willing to re chassis this you'll end up with a good car I'll post some pics as soon as I figure out how

Mot till July and tax till end June not july so you can drive it home

I'm going to eBay it as soon as I get the V5, I think it will generate the most cash there, as I stand to lose quite a bit on this but I havnt the heart to fix it I feel shafted every time I look at it.

It owes me £4900 I'm looking for £3000 if anyone's interested before I eBay it

Just need to move this on it makes my blood boil when I look at it .its a good project if anyone is looking its just I didn't buy it as a project so it's really getting under my skin
If it doesn't go soon think ill end up homeless the wife can't put up with me like this much longer

Not put me off Mark just thinking of getting myself in debt for a new one

Looks like I'm stuck with this .
Had loads of silly offers everyone wants it for next to nothing

but then it's not worth much in its present state, I can't afford to give it away though, So looks like Im going to be repairing it after all .......Feel kind of sorry for it, and its growing on me in a Land Rover sort of way
