United Kingdom 1999 Defender 110 Td5 SW Caledonian Blue
Metallic squeak in 1st - 3rd gear
For some reason, I have picked up a metallic squeak when changing between 1st/2nd/3rd gear it sounds something dry or possible a stone stuck in a disc somewhere?
Yesterday I had a look and found prop shaft nuts needed a tweak, so that has been done. I took it for a spin today and thought all was well, but alas now... So today I got underneath and checked the props shaft nuts again and all OK.

Removed the hand brake drum and checked for inside all OK.
Re-adjusted the hand brake (set at 4 clicks)
Greased the prop shafts

Took the car for another spin and still there. Drove with the door open and the noise did sound like it was underneath.

The noise happens in Low & high.

Oil levels in the TC and G/box are OK. Not checked the axles.
Mmm not sure now. 1999 Defender TD5 110
