I'm keeping mine for the time being, they are excellent tents, there are a number of models, I have the one with the gas struts (airtop), sounds like a great idea, struts worked fine at -25c (ish) but the clips are rubbish in the cold, I replaced mine with some stainless protex clips (a recommendation from a forum friend), i did that before my recent arctic trip, the protex clips are quick and easy even in very cold temperatures.
The last 3 trips I used the tent, I've woken up to ice on the top (London2B, Wales and Norway), they are well insulated. They can be easily mounted on manbo bars but i prefer my hannibal rack as it spreads the weight over the gutters. When you look at maggi's, make sure they are not damaged, the internals can be cleaned or replaced easy enough but you don't want cracks in the case, having said that it's possible to fix fibreglass Mine has built in led lights and side pockets and a clothes net at the end, all these things can be added on if you get a different model. The other things i have added are under mattress insulation and a couple of reindeer skins good luck Steve ! |

Sorry Steve, your wanted post seems to be getting hijacked! ![]() Both small and medium are 210 cms long. Small is 130 cms wide whereas the medium is 145 cms wide. A medium Autohome roof tent basically takes the full width of a Patriot rack. Am not sure what roof bars/rack you are planning on fitting, have fitted but with right rack it should not be an issue. Black Storm small are £2,200 and medium £2649 Brendan |

I have always gone for the small version,, and offset it to one side of the rack,,
Can then access the tent via the rear rack ladder and have enough room on one side, to get into the tent,, saves messing with the pathetic standard ladder California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1 Main Brian James Trailer Dealer for South West UK |
