Brake pad wear
Story goes- first set of rear pads at 16k then another set 11k after that then the last set has only gone 6k Shocked
Now I know it depends on driving style etc but my vehicle is doing the same amount of towing, off road work etc as it does all the time. Also I don't believe that 6k is an except able amount of mileage for break pads to wear out in.
Also the inside pad is wearing a lot quicker than the outside pad and this is happening on all 4 corners. The front inners wore out and the outers had about half left on. Is this right? The rears are wearing in the same way too.
Anyway I had LR assist out again as I thought this could not be right, they agree its not quite right so had the car recovered to my dealers for them to sort out. It was recovered as the pads had gone metal to metal.
Anyone had this trouble or know what it could be?

AFAIK mines just turned 30k and on the original set. They do need changing ASAP now tough which I will do. Reason I can't guarantee they are 30k is because I'm the second owner from 13k. But I would be they are original from the factory.

I'd imagine even though I'm no expert the the un-even ware is due to poor alignment with either the calliper or the disk or maybe both. It'd also compromise braking performance too I'd imagine,. Confused Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

It makes me giggle...whilst mostly used off road and most of that is on a sandy site, my pads have to be replaced 3-4 times a year, that'll be once every thousand miles or so then! The joys of having a Defender solely as a toy!

Uneven wear across a caliper suggests sticking pistons in the less-worn side.

Used mainly by the wife. That makes the brake pad longevity even more impressive. Rolling with laughter 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Well pick it back up today and the dealer seems to think its within tolerance and so do land rover. According to land rover service specs, if it does a lot of sandy off road work then an inspection is due every 3k. Can't be arsed to keep banging my head against a brick wall and asking why the pads have lasted for less than half the distance than they did when the vehicle was new, even though the driving and work load of the vehicle has not changed.
The dealer has replaced the breakers FOC and we have agreed to inspect the brakes in 3k and assess the situation then.
So I'll update in about 2months.

I am assuming the discs are not being changed? As discs wear the will chew pads more. But 6k does seem a little quick. As for the uneven wear this would point to a caliper problem.
My 90 did 60k on fronts and 70 on rears and then only changed them because I had the wheels off. Its never over in my land rover.
