Stopping the whistle from my roofbox
As in the title really. Has anybody got any suggestions?

I got a bargain roof box on eBay and have fitted it to a hannibal rack to hold the numerous bags that make up my tent. I made some brackets and now the wind whistles between the rack and the box. It sits flush on to the roof rack for the most part, but there must be some gaps somewhere!

The only thing I can think of is some kind of gasket made from foam to seal the gaps. It is a large area though...2.25 metres by .5 of a metre 2002 110 td5

Good idea. I was at go outdoors yesterday as well. Another drive over there in the defender won't hurt will it? 2002 110 td5

it must be peculiar to the roof box, wind noise from my hannibal is not noticeable. some racks have an air dam on the front to reduce wind noise Thumbs Up

Well it works

On a serious not I had the same problem on a roof box that had square brackets, I ended up using u shaped - exhaust clamps - fixings through the box with the fixing inside the box & that seemed to work.

You need to ensure the fixing is parallel to the side of the vehicle to minimise wind disruption by the u of the bracket.

In my case no whistling Thumbs Up 2020 P300 HSE

Slightly o/t but we get a whistle from the roof bars because they have an exposed gap at right angles to the direction of movement. Are there any holes in the box floor ... ? 2009 110 XS Station Wagon

Thanks to all who replied. The problem has been solved by putting a camping mat between the box and the rack
