JE engineering 2.2 tune
I was speaking to JE Engineering today about another subject and they told me that they will be bringing out a new remap for the 2.2 Puma within the next 2 weeks. There will be stage one which is the remap on its own and stage two which is remap, intercooler and cold air intake. According to them it's all tested dynoed and ready to go Razz

lol true, I do think this time in their defence its about them having the need to get adds in early with the magasines to be honest, LRO especially are a nightmare as they want words and pictures nearly 3 months before the mag comes out. sometimes prospection adds are the only way to be on time with the real world progression and developement.

The whole point of the 2.2 remap isn't to get more power , mpg or torque but to get the engine working the way it should do . So does this remap include removal of the DPF ? And a fix for the holding revs issue ? My whole drive train , gearbox and clutch has been affected by the crazy set up , roll on the remap and DPF fix .

Sounds like you may have a deeper problem than just a remap!

Shocking gear changes , holding revs for 2-3 secs , clunk , clunk , clunk on reversing ( front prop I think as loadsa play on it ) and other related issues . Dealer says normal and can't fault it ? This engine has been strangled within an inch of its life to tick the boxes of the Eu emitions and I recon the only fix is the correct remap to put it back to normal .

The DPF its self is easy eniough to electroniclly remove from the ecu as well as the related dtc's attached to it after its removal, the hardest part is the removal of the DPF its self mechaniclly from the car which is very labor intencive as seen in this pdf.

https://www.defender2.net/gallery/albums/u...move~0.pdf

The holding revs which is partly to do with the "Tipin value" can be adjusted if needed of which it has been on some of the later calibrations I assume to mask a little or address the rev holing problem being reported by many. It seems that most of the early calibrations especially on 90's have previousley used a different value in some of the maps which as said causes the revs to hold a lot longer when changing gears which is exaggerated especially on cars that have have large or wide wheels fitted.

WAW ! Amazing diagrams and description thanks . I'm sure I have given yourself all my issues before and one of my questions was if you would do the removal at the same time as the new remap ? As it would be required to get the car running again . Keith

At the moment I'm keeping the DPF removal for development for a ltiile longer until further testing is done, Regarding removal, the contents of the original pipe can be removed from the insides then it can replaced or I'm working on a new front pipe also between other jobs for a full replacement.

Of course this serious and in most cases visible modification will for sure have dealer warranty implications.
