2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 HCPU Stornoway Grey
Rattling doors - sorted (for now)
Car been having this annoying rattle/clonking on both sides of the cabin at ear level. Both passenger side and driver's side ... had it since new ... First thought someone had dropped a couple of bolts in the B pillar or had some stuff swinging against the back of the cabin ...Checked, fastened loose bolts etc. but no improvement.

After some experimenting found the sound disappeared if the door was not latched when driving. So had to be the door.

Took of the door trim but nothing moving in there and no wandering bits either.

Found out it was the lock rattling on the door catch. The plastic tube on it was damaged on both passenger and driver's side.

Ordered 2 new door latches (hopefully that will sort it) and for the time being wrapped some electrical tape around the plastic tube ... The truck is so quiet (relatively speaking) I can't believe it! No more clonking ...

Now thinking I should have ordered the X-trousers from X Engineering ... looks like theirs is completely in metal so no chance of damaging the bit of plastic in future ...

Would recommend X-Trousers Thumbs Up I fitted them not because of rattling doors but because I kept catching my trousers but they are a good product and the door closing is better Wink 90 XS
