Heavy smoke on cold start
Hi guys. Latest problem with my 2007 Puma at 24k. On cold starting its smoking blue smoke very heavily for about 5-10 seconds then clears. This has been accepted by the main dealer as a fault and after consulting with LR, they failed to find the problem. It's due to go back for another investigation and they want to keep it a week as the problem only manifests itself on initial startup otherwise it starts smoke free has anyone else experienced this problem?

My 2009 has gone in for exactly the same issue this morning. I'll update when I can. Cheers,

Mine smokes like mad if I start it without letting the glowplugs heat up....
I wouldn't worry too much, unless it starts to do it all the time. ... ,-------,

mine does too in cold weather. So does my father in law's Puma 90. I believe its normal and due to some sensor in the engine calling for extra diesel when the ambient temperature goes below about 5 deg C in order to assist cold starts Thumbs Up

Thanks Guys, I'd be interested what they say to Superspoons, and I'll post what my dealer comes up with next week but its reassuring others have it and it appears to not be something more serious developing.

Had a call from the dealer this morning regarding the start-up smoke.

They have found "a loose screw which has shorted a special fuse" which is causing the issue Shocked

Now, I'm pretty handy around a Landy but never have I heard a problem described quite like this Rolling with laughter

A new fuse is on order and should be fitted tomorrow, I'll try and find out exactly what they mean when I pick it. Oh, and it passed the MOT Thumbs Up Cheers,

Utterly Censored off

Just been charged £200 for a £7.50 fuse which has been replaced to 'cure' the blue smoke on cold startup.

"Warranty does not cover fuses"

....it may not but the fuse blew due to a short in the system caused by a loose screw. I saw the technicians note.

Argued the toss, got nowhere. No real surprise.

I was due to sit down with the salesman who sold me it back in April to discus a new 2.2 ... Absolutely no chance now. Not there, anyway. If I do change I'll buy private and take my chances - the warranty as I see it is not worth the paper it's typed on. Cheers,

Hi mine is the same, I informed LR who sent a techy, it turned out to be the enrichment, it only does it in the cold weather, nothing to worry about mate.
