Fab! Thanks for those suggestions... especially Dennis Farm - sounds just right!

Cheers!

Definitely recommend the following for non commercialised with basic but reasonable facilities. Not all in Cornwall but close and on the way. The last one you need to book early as there are only 18 ish pitches and its a superb setting. There are 2 campsites called Dennis Farm, the link below is the one you want. They take Land Rovers with roof tents.

Stayed at all three and would definitely go back.

Have now booked for 12 nights in June, touring Devon / Cornwall/ New Forest plus a stop over on the way down and back (at Adam Henson's farm as seen on Countryfile!). Have booked a night each at West Country Camping (Stoke Barton Farm) and at Dennis Farm, and the others I found via ukcampsite website. Will report back on all sites after the trip!

Try Treago Farm at Crantock they have a bar on site, the site is always spotless, the owners are friendly there's plenty of walking direct from the site the shop on site serves hot meals. The lane out side the site runs into a green lane over the common to Cubert and there's a very good pub (The Bowwgie) less than a mile away which overlooks Crantock Bay and there's two pubs in Crantock village that serve good beer and good food, If you have any ankle biters then the beaches on Polly Joke or Crantock beach are great for them. And there are some good way marked lanes within an easy drive

Oh I think I spotted that one whilst I was looking for sites, but discounted it as we tend to prefer small sites with less than 50 pitches. Looks very nice though!

Some of the sites I picked have pubs within walking distance, others not. So that makes it easy to decide which nights I'll be cooking out of the camp kitchen and which nights I'll be having tea out! Wink

Route and stops as follows -
Night 1 - Cotswold Farm Park (Adam Henson's place, near Stow on the Wold) on way down
Night 2 - Stoke Barton Farm - near Hartland Quay, Bideford, North Devon
Night 3 - Dennis Farm Camp site, Padstow,
Night 4 - Cross Combe C&C Club CS - between Perranporth and St Agnes
Night 5 & Night 6 - Ash Farm (6 pitch campsite!) - Ludgovan, near Penzance
Night 7 - Liggars Farm (small basic site on a farm), near Looe
Night 8 - Dartmoor Shepherd's Huts Campsite - near Ashburton, Devon
Night 9 & 10 - Ashurst Campsite, New Forest (large site, exception to the rule!) (bit of a detour, but for old times sake - used to spend lots of time in the NF when in-laws lived in Hampshire in the late 80s/early 90s)
Night 11 - Cotswold Farm Park on way home
Arrive home next day! Roof tent will have been put up and taken down and back of 90 packed and unpacked 9 times in 12 days! Fab practice for Australia and by then everything should have found its place or if not, its not going Down Under! Laughing Our blog - http://landytravels.com/

We will look out for you Pam, we are in and around Helford on the 4/5/6th of June Thumbs Up

Hoping that the cold weather will delay the rhododendrons this year so we will be found at the Lost Gardens of Heligan on the 6th. We saw them there two years ago and the site of them in full bloom is spectacular.
