Delivery Mileage Rovers
Trying to fight the boredom at work, found these...

http://users.autoexposure.co.uk/search.cfm...;Trans=Any

First off I thought that £6995 was quite steep for an 8 year old Rover 25, but then I realised that it had only done 10 miles. And the one below it has only done 60. There's a few for sale that only have delivery mileage on them!

Where will they have been until now?

Not sure I'd want to drop £30k on a Rover 75, delivery mileage V8 or not! Think I'd sooner save up another £7k and pick up this one...

Back in the 90's when I drove car transporters the Rover factory at Cowley Oxford had a lot of new Maestros and Montegos sitting in the storage compound. The thing was they had stopped production of these marks quite a few years beforehand. Cowley at the time produced the Rover 600 and 800 then moved onto the Rover 75 before BMW moved production to Longbridge near Brum. A lot of so called new cars were stored in large compounds such as decommissioned US Air force bases etc. Chances are that is where these cars have come from or from another similar storage plot, either that or they have had really really careful owners who did not drive them. Very Happy

I don't think I'd want to buy one, especially at that sort of price, with no warranty if it had been standing for so long. I'd hope that the oil and brake fluid and such would have still been changed regularly, although I'm guessing it probably won't have been. Could be wrong however!

It'd be quite cool if there were some delivery mileage Td5's knocking about though... I think my opinions may change slightly... Whistle

Think I've found the winner for the oldest car with delivery mileage though...

My grandad got one of those brand new - F51 GNA - then traded it in for a new Escort in 1994ish. A chap just up the road bought the Rover and ran it for a few years, although like pretty much every Rover from that era it's now in the big scrapyard in the sky!

They got a few of them out the door (at £80k a pop Shocked) before the company went bust. Think the exterior looks great, but the interior of that one for sale I think looks awful. Oh, and IIRC, it shares a bunch of parts with the Fiat Punto...
