Installing active subwoofer connections
Hi There

May be dopey question time, but I am a bit foxed.

My head unit has 'Low level' output via L and R RCA output.

My Active Subwoofer has two RCA inputs High and Low.....Can I just connect? doesn't seem logical.

Any suggestions welcome!

Head Unit Low level is it's output.
Sub input Low or High.

You should be fine to just connect up. Basically means your active Sub can take either but your HU is Low level which will work no probs.
Thumbs Up

*EDIT*
Same situation for me with my HU and Amp. HU is Low level output and Amp can take either Low or High in-put. Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

OK, thanks.

I was concerned that I will only get half of any signal. i.e the Low level of 'say' left channel and High level of Right Channel.

Where would you set the crossover? Circa 100Hz?

Chris

I can do that on my HU so maybe yours has the feature / option to do the same? (May depend on Brand, Model and features and so on.
What active sub did you buy may I ask? Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

Cheapest that I could get off the shelf!!

Peiying PY-NB3000 Active Car Audio Subwoofer

I have an old Pioneer DEH P2600 HU with Multi Changer that I used to have in my RR a long (and better off) time ago.

It is only recently that I have started to upgrade bits on my Defender, and this Subwoofer was in a sale here so...

It seems illogical to me to connect LHS low level output to High level input on the subwoofer and RHS Low level output to the Low level input....but this is what I am looking at doing.

I see what your saying but I don't quite know why that would be... They should match and be either high or low only. Confused Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

Well, that was the reason for my original query.

The two RCA sockets on the HU are 'Low output' Left and Right.

The Subwoofer does not have Left and Right (as there is only one!) but has two RCA sockets High and Low.

Hence I bought a two plug RCA cable (without reading the manual!) and am now a bit flummoxed! Embarassed

If the HU has a left and right low output and the sub only has one low input you can get an RCA lead that goes from two male to one female end the just put a single RCA lead from that to the sub and you will get the two sides ie left and right signals Thumbs Up

OK! When I went to the shop, they had a two to one cable as described above even called a 'subwoofer adapter' so, problem solved.

Thanks all for your input and Happy Christmas to all!
