Smoking
100 days off the fags today which means I've saved nearly 800 quid!

I've already spent more than twice that though to reward myself Laughing

I've been off 'em for nearly three years.
It's only in the last six months I've stopped thinking about them.
Good luck.

Good Man - congratulations!

I'm going to have a go at giving up again in 2013 as its getting pricey and the money could be used for other purposes! not quite up 20 a day but not far off at the moment - trouble is I get duty frees quite often and you really notice when a packet has to be bought for full price!

Anyone tried the electric fags, patches. , gum etc ? which one works best or all three maybe.

Keep it up

Seven weeks for me! Ain't noway I'm going back on them.
Four days and four nights in hospital and looking at renal failure can change one's Outlook on life. Thumbs Up

Dj I'm on the patches and I'm doing ok. Thumbs Up didn't bother with electric fag, as your trying to break two habits..........1 the fags themselves.
2 the habit of lifting the hand up to your mouth.
Didn't try the gum.........been told it's minging. And don't try the mints......you'll end up with minty wind. And if you swallow half a mint you'll have hiccups for hours. ........honest it happened to me.

Go cold turkey but keep some fags on hand.
It's easier if you know you can have one if you really want it.
Remember, you're never more desperate for a smoke than when you've run out, so don't run out.

I gave up a few years ago. it's hard, but keep going. I've now started Nordic Walking to get my fitness levels up. Has anyone else tried it?

Being able to walk more than 100 yards without a stick is my priority. Sad

Mrs H gave up and started Nordic walking too, those sticks are pricy but she likes it!

I've tried them all, this time I used the spray thing, bloody horrible and makes you feel sick, but at least there's no chance of getting hooked on it instead of the cigs. My wife has a friend who's been addicted to the nicotine tablets for 7 years now, no point in replacing one addiction with another.

I think you have to really want to give up, I've tried many times before but really only half heartidly, this time I'm very determined and now not really thinking about it most of the time.

I created an Android app to help me as well, it's free on Google Play https://play.google.com/store/apps/details...9raW5nIl0.

I've been off them for a couple of months now but I'm on the chewing gum. I have met someone who has been on the chewing gum for nearly 10 years but I'm sure there is less people end up in hospital with chewing gum than smoking!

I was stopped for a year before but its easier to find an excuse to start againg than it is to stay stopped.

Can I suggest you get a referral to your local StopSmoking Clinic where you can then get prescribed Champix - this course of pills blocks the nicotine receptors in the brain & requires no willpower whatsoever; I've been smoke free for 3yrs now Mr. Green "Ease your worries, Clear-up your woes,
