Tks Steve, I really only want to replace my aux lights if it would be the right unit for quality, fit, performance and looks to match the other Speakers... So let's see what the sponsors may come up with...

Tim, any progress with finding a super dooper LED replacement (fully ECE R112 approved of course Thumbs Up ) aux high beam lamp for the SVX style front grill?
You say that the above 900 mm version is not a direct replacement, which a pity, but on top of that the 250 effective lumen of this one seem also not up to snuff for our vehicles. Should be more than 700, no?
If there is nothing like a plug 'n play ready made model available today from producers like Speaker and the likes, would the potential demand from all those running a defender with SVX type grill and having changed their main lamps from H4 to LED be considered large enough in numbers for someone like Speaker to engineer a product suited for the SVX style grill?
And if a producer like Speaker would take that on, what about the ECE homologation thereafter, probably very lengthy process, yes?
Any update appreciated, think that is not only by me. Thumbs Up You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Hello Eric

You need to have faith Thumbs Up I have looked at the lamps here in the UK and cannot see a cost effective / simple solution to modify it. So I have sent the LR lamps to engineering in the US who will get them next week to see what they can do.

As for lumen output we will get you the most bang for your buck as our US cousins say but just consider some incandescent headlights only produce 250 effective lumens so it is more than you think Thumbs Up

ECE homologation is not a problem it just adds cost so I am looking at what options are available.

In terms of timescale I will push as hard as I can that you have my word Bow down

Tim

Faith, no problem Thumbs Up
Lumen, as high as possible, but stay within the limits to get them ECE approved without needed self-leveling and self-showering Whistle
Timescale, I rather have them engineers work out the perfect solution than doing anything hastily....
Hope they will work out a good driving light (high) beam, and not a pencil type beam.
Just keep us in the loop how things progress.... Thumbs Up

Agreed, also noted for your preference of a driving beam over pencil beam,

We will only be able to get a driving beam pattern ECE approved so then the only washing they will need can be carried out by you Thumbs Up

A gentle attempt to see if anyone is making progress with this question which was floated now over 6 months ago. Whistle

Tim, Nakatenga, and other site sponsors who are light specialists.....
Just found link to these brand new Truck-Lite auxiliary driving lights. 3.8inch diameter equals 96,5mm....
Surely they are only DOT approved at this stage, and not ECE, but would this not be worth for you gents to look into if it could be a workable substitute for our SVX style 90,0 mm halogen aux driving lamps? Pretty close, no?
Trying to help move this long pending subject forward Thumbs Up
http://www.truck-lite.com/webapp/wcs/store...;langId=-1

Edit: Hmmm, just saw a comparative test of this Truck-Lite with a similar J.W. Speaker aux lamp. The Speaker light output is about 3 times what this Truck-Lite yields, so so much for this idea I guess. Mr. Green
High time someone challenges Speaker to make the design of their 90mm driving light fit our SVX style fronts. Whistle You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

I can confirm that this is being looked at and a solution is in rapid development as we speak, I can confirm this as I had an Svx light surround and the speaker light that will be going in it, in my hands this morning, Tim will keep you all posted.
