Halfords - what a rip off merchant
There are some things where it's just easier to pop down to Halfords and get them, cleaning materials, the odd electrical part for soldering etc, but for larger items you are SO much better off going online.

The Alpine head unit I put in the Defender has broken again, the front fascia plate spring keeps breaking inside the unit, which is just plain irritating. So, I'm going to look at Kenwood instead.

In Halfords they have a particular model for 159.95.

At a place online called Just kenwood, it is 69.95

How do they justify that? Shocked 2016 D4 HSE

Now you realise why I've recommended Just Kenwood beofore and never Halfrauds. Rolling Eyes
Same with my Kicker amp 299.99 Halfords and 5 - 7 days to get stock. A small audio shop near London I found online 249.99 inc free next day delivery. Needless to say where I went. And apparently according to Halfords on offer too. Censored

I'm not going for mega bucks as the Defender gets used every 2 weeks or so, this is the one I like the look of, will do for me I think, doesnt need BT or DVD and all that jazz, just an AUX and USB in.

Being a High St retailer since the advent of online shopping must be a nightmare - look at Comet for example

I just fitted the next model up as I like the bluetooth, fits no problem and sound quality is good, you may find the mounts a little tight but goes in with some jiggling. Put the ariel adapter somewhere safe for when you re-fit the land rover stereo if you decide to change cars.

Is the bluetooth purely for phone functions or can you stream music via BT too?

The Defender is too noisy to hold a phone conversation over BT inside! 2016 D4 HSE

Stream music direct = no cables, you can use it for phone calls no problem, it has an inbuilt mic but you can get an external one as well. Original Member Pie n Pea Club.

That'll look nice once in. I highly doubt the Defender is too loud for BT to be used just make sure if there is an external mic that it is placed well. There will of course be a little background noise of the engine but you can probably make it minimal. I reckon that will look very nice in yours RRUK Thumbs Up

Just out of interest from those of you that have bought new Kenwood HU's do they supply the radio keys too? Or do you have to buy them separately? Had to buy mine separately otherwise once installed I wouldn't have been able to get it out again. Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

Bluetooth phone connection without a separate microphone is pretty useless in a defender unless your stationary. I have a Sony which is great for the streaming of music but not much good handsfree once moving. Can hear the caller ok but they have difficulty in hearing me above the noise in the cab. 2007 TD5 90 Hard Top

I used the oxygen o series with seperate mic and that was fine with the windows shut, the mic was mounted on the dash, sometiomes had to slow down to 80 though. Whistle Original Member Pie n Pea Club.

Course I just thought some of you are with the TD5 not the Puma & I wasn't aware that some had BT built in with no external mic. I assumed they all had external mic's. In that case I see where your coming from. Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧
