What happens on the second service will be listed on the first service document (the one with all the tick boxes). I can't remember what it says but would be surprised if there was anything fundamental on it. £600 is totally over the top but it's back to the old question of if it's worth keeping your dealer happy in case you need a warranty claim. If you've already upset the dealer then get a private mechanic to do it using original parts for around half the price.

I just couldn't see the value in having mine serviced. It's just an extended warranty to me as £460 odd quid for a first service I was quoted on mine is just stupid.

Slightly worrying driving with no warranty, but then I wouldn't care if I had reached the 3 year point, my logic being if its run for 12 months fault free it'll run for plenty more.

This theory has held up well so far, nothing has gone wrong except rusty mudflaps which were still swapped no questions asked.

I can't see much going wrong with the engine as it sounds fine and gets plenty of fresh oil, in years of driving I have never known an engine fail unless it's been neglected or thrashed to death. Diffs are easy to come by if needed and at the end of the day it's all pretty basic and easy to fix.

So no warranty no worries as far as I'm concerned, the dealers can whistle for their service fee!

Also this only really holds up if planning to keep the car for years as the residual value will certainly be knocked int he short term, in the long term this may reverse as the money saved went on Dinitrol and fresh oil!

My reasoning for paying the service fee is when it does go pear shaped 1 call to LR assistance and you get courtesy car fit for purpose (sometimes) it gets carried back to the dealer they fix it. When you do the miles i do and have to be on site on time its worth the back up. If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.

If run as a business proposition I couldn't agree more with having it serviced . If mine went wrong it could potentially be off the road for a few weeks while I source reasonably priced parts.

However mine is not run as a business vehicle and I can get to work if it died, so I'll save the cash and keep my fingers crossed lol

Had it done. £602 all in and a 15% discount taken off that for being a nice regular customer. Happy with the service and well happy with the full valet it got whilst in Very Happy It was extremely dirty inside and out. Also got a nice complementary bottle of water placed in the cup holder. Suppose all that money helps pay for these things!
In all honesty it's worth the money as the amount of support I got from the service guys with my last 110 was fantastic. Hoping I don't need as much with this vehicle.

I had no issues for 3 years. Then after 3 years and one week, engine management light came on.
Could be a case of just "fuel injector learning correupted" or possible needs a new Engine Management Unit.

Neither easy to fix unless you have an Autologic or similar system.
Its back at the dealer and if its the EMU then its an after warranty claim from LR as its only done about 8K miles. Luckily I have a full dealer service history.

Just received the invoice for its second service. I must admit I'm a bit surprised.
I'm coming from a Volkswagen Transporter which at 40.000 km should get its first service costing less than half what I have to pay now. Whistle Mr. Green
Mind you, also at the dealer...
That Transit engine must be a very complicated one. Laughing

Got mine done today at 22,000 miles; £555 by Lindacre Ipswich, which is a ridiculous amount of money to pay for an oil/filter, air and diesel filter change. Probably the last one with LR as the intermediate oil/filter change I did at the 6,000 mile interval was £50.

On the up-side(!?!) they agree that the rear diff is noisy and have put a claim in to replace it under warranty. It's off to another local dealership's bodyshop tomorrow for two days for some paint to the windscreen surround, drivers' door hinges and the fake windscreen 'hinges' on the bulkhead.

I have had it up to my eyebrow's with Land Rover dealerships, however, can promise you that Duckworths of Boston will do a great job at a great price and leave you feeling satisfied (as an earlier post suggests) and a very competitive price. Not too far from Notts and of course a car for the day as standard

Mines just had it's second service at £535, I had a loan car for two days and they replaced the clutch whilst it was in... Which I thought was a little strange at 20k miles... SWMBO picks it up tomorrow and I'm waiting for the list of other things that they've replaced..
Like some of the earlier posts, It's a ridiculous amount of money, However it's a work tool and I need the piece of mind to know that there will be no come backs with any issues as it's had a full dealer service history... (I also change the oil every 6000 miles as a precaution)..

Tim It doesn't matter how bad it is, It can always get worse...
