Now that's out of the way perhaps you could answer the OP yourself from your first hand experience of shipping Land Rovers long distances in containers instead of sniping at other people who made the effort to actually reply ?

Rather than turn it into a Censored contest on our personal qualifications and experience, I'd rather let all who read the whole thread make their own minds up as to how they would want it done. Is wrapping something around a LR axle an officially approved method?

If we want to go all official as per the post above, the regulations state 3g loadings foward rear in a container 1.5g side to side you as the shipper have to get an engineer to do the maths or Land rover weighs 2 tonnes 4x 5ton ratchet straps will do the job at the correct angles. I always tie the body and compess the spings/ bump stops on air sprung motors. If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.

Supacat - thanks for the pdfs = most useful. Lots of tips and info. The use of chocks seems to be a good idea - do you know if this is common practice/allowed generally?

I think you would have to discuss this with any shipping company - but it does give good food for thought on what is best practise and knowing the right questions could perhaps help select the most appropriate shipper for you.
