Rear Shocks - Need Replacing - But with what?
Hi

My '04 TD5 110 has just failed MOT on rear shocks. What Shocks should I ask the garage to throw on? Its not a main dealer. Should I use LR parts or other TBC?

May as well go for gas shocks if replacing ........... Terrafirma's are good and affordable.

Why get garage to fit them?? Dead easy do replace yourself [and no labour charge] Wink Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant.

OEM is a good bet, ones for my 110 were 27.50 a side.

They replaced a set of TerraFirma that had lasted 1 year, or 4000miles before they snapped at the bottom and top (One each). They cost £50 a side! 2002 Defender 110 DC

If you want to upgrade, I suggest Koni Heavy Trax...you get a good price from DEFENDERBITS (Site Sponsor). I just installed mine, and they are a big improvement.

If you want standard, I have my take-offs. Only 9000 miles, and as new in every way. £30. (pair)

Either way, the rear shocks are a piece of cake to fit (front's are harder)...just a couple of bolts and youre done Thumbs Up

Another vote for Koni Heavy Tracks

(Note. There are 2 types - Heavy Tracks and Heavy Tracks Raid

Heavy track are the best imho, transformed the ride in mine from a jiggerly truck into a daily drive Bow down.
Suggest you change front and rear to get the best results BM52

Thx for your tips guys. Under time pressure I just went with OEM; reasonable price. Like a prize c*ck I let the MOT lapse, and I needed the car on the road, having not needed it for a while.

Merl in, are you sure you are looking at prices for the normal Heavy Tracks ? They are about £70 a corner, not too bad. They are specifically designed for heavier loads in rough tracks but are also great on road. No idea what oem would be but there isn't really one that does the same thing ( for what I need anyway)

However, if you are looking at the Heavy Track RAIDs then they are about twice that so very expensive and are designed for high speed off road (ie Rally Raid ) and therefore the price reflects this. Our blog - http://landytravels.com/

Agree - just checked...OE are part # RSC100040 (Front) and £65.99 each.

My Koni's were £149 per PAIR... from defenderbits
