Replacement Vehicle Alarm
After reading all the posts about vehicle safety I think I may change the alarm for something that wasn't designed in the 70's.

Just wondered if anyone has any recommendations for a decent car alarm that fits well onto the Defender? Smile

Controls off the standard Land Rover Alarm....

You can't just remove the LR system completely as interior light won't work, and you need to remove the standard immobiliser function. I'd personally integrate with what is already there.

There are of course easier and cheaper options in the interim like a decent pedal lock, filling the door hinge bolt heads with resin the cycle lock/chain for the bonnet through the engine lifting eye etc.....Anything really to slow the toe-rags down. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!!

Being the paranoid type, I had a Clifford G5 fitted to mine.

I had no issues with the interior lights or the central locking etc, it just worked as normal. I liked the chirp/barrier feature, when you got close it sounded just to let you know it knew you were there. My wife hated that feature which made me like it even more Very Happy Nick

No, single key fob. I obviously kept the originals and gave them to the new owner when I sold it with the truck but they were in effect redundant. Not much more to tell you really. Nick

Yes, it has a tilt and motion sensor, glass tamper, warn away and ultrasonic interior sensor (hardly worth it with the tiny 90 pickup cab) Pretty much everything you need to stop all but the most skilled/determined.

It also had a funky blue flashing light, worth it just for that Very Happy Nick
