I am looking at a new cordless 18v drill and have spotted this baby:

Not me! BUT....I did buy this 18v cordless some time ago and it's an excellent make, stands up to the rigours of harsh usage, does everything I need it to do including drilling 20mm holes and larger through 10mm thick aluminium bulkheads to fit cable glands, and is significantly cheaper than the Bosch one.. http://www.diy.com/nav/fix/power-tools/dri...icamp=recs If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Hi there i think if your going to get a drill i would not touch a bosch......
if you can afford one of these then this would be your better option ....Makita BHP451RFE 18V LXT...i use this drill everyday and it out performs any other out there i've tried them all...you get what you pay for

I was leaning towards Makita. Bosch and Makita are battling for 1st place at the mo.
One thing that does swing it for me is the warranty period. 3yr with Bosch. I do have a Bosch 'green' angle grinder and drill and they have both been abused and still come back for more... 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |

The Makita is a very strong drill and will screw large fixings in with ease in first gear... your arm will give before the drill...and if ever it does pack in you can get a replacement body for 90 quid

We kill drills. The longest lasting is a Hitachi 18v SDS. Must be 10 year old now.
 Tried them all-worst are De Walt although the older more rubbery type bodied ones faired better. We are now trying cheap Erauber (spelling?) and pound for pound they are very good. Mains powered, can't beat Hilti |

I use Bosch and Makita and both are good brands.
Have a 36v(?) Bosch drill and that is a powerful bit of kit. Brendan |

long charge time and only 10mm chuck!! for a little more money (200 only one battery) try makita think its 25min charge time 3ah li-ion with 13mm chuck.

There are numerous tradesmen on here....
A fencebuilder who uses a Makita and builds miles of quality timber fences each year....and myself marine electrician that uses a Dewalt in servicing high speed catamarans....to name but two... My point is thus.... everyone has an opinion and can bang on til doomsday what may or may not be the best...ultimately what may suit one individual, may not suit another. Unless really the following facts are taken into consideration the views are pretty much pointless in my opinion... What are you going to use it for? Is your choice 'fit for purpose?' Under what conditions will it be used? (lengthy periods of operation or short?) Are you after a 'bargain' or a quality piece of merchandise? I also think Excossack had made his provisional choice and we're all trying to cajole him to buy something totally different! My fault as I answered first...and led us up this path.... 
Sorry Excossack! Your points made in your second and third posts indicate to me, your choice, for you is a good one!  If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!
