We collected our new (new to us, actually 13 years old) caravan last night, our first, and sat in it still hitched to the 110 in the garden and ate a chip supper
Never had one before, borrowed the inlaws motorhome (to left of picture) for a single night but thats it ! First things first, there is no hook up lead with it, which one should I get, length ?, type of plugs on the end ?, all advice welcome

.... also get an adapter so you can plug into your house / garage mains to charge the battery before/after trips. We usually plug ours in a day or two before going away if possible. Our blog - http://landytravels.com/

Yes plug in day or so before and get batt charged and fridge cold

And so the shopping list commences...
Seeing as my van is stored away from home, I keep a laminated checklist of all the gear I need to load into the van for every trip, bedding/chairs/bike pump etc Consider a Ctek charger for keeping your caravans battery charged/healthy. I store my battery in my garage and connect to my intelligent charger when needed. |

I have a list too. I wish I was as organised at home as I am in the caravan where everything has its place. At home I can never find anything !

Packing the caravan is my domain and I don't have a printed/written list, just my brain. But then women are better at this sort of thing, don't you find?
In our house it is my job to pack the van and buy the beer and groceries. He does the towing. When we get to site, I sort out the inside bits and bobs, water, gas and so whilst Dave puts the awning up. Teamwork is key to relaxed caravanning! Our blog - http://landytravels.com/

You are not wrong....the missus presented me with a list of Emma Bridgwater stuff to get for the caravan, it soon changed to more sensible stuff when I told her we WILL go off road with our caravan 
I know what you mean Mr Go Beyond.....I hadn't got a clue what I needed either, the van came with the big orange lead, but as Pam said, I had to buy the adaptor for the house. I had to search " big dummies guide to caravanning" on google 
I learnt a lot though It's all about being a big dummy |

I think I've got it bad, I found myself washing it last night and even got the T Cut out, I don't even do that with Land Rovers !  |

If ever you have a spare half day its serioisly worth washing, polishing & waxing the roof as all the dirt collects there. When it rains the dirt runs onto the window rubbers/awning rail etc and causes the dreaded black streaks to form.
Sort the roof out and it will make future cleaning much easier. |

what about electrics? My 110 has a (busted) trailer connection but when it finally gets sorted can you upgrade to the two socket type or the new 13 pin al in one thingy

Yes, I've just done exactly that on my 110. Bought the Land Rover kit from Dan at Duckworth, as he gave the best price. The reversing light connection up by the gearbox was a right sod to do but otherwise it's pretty straightforward and effectively plug and play. Darren
