I fancy taking my own truck over for a couple of weeks one summer - anyone have any ideas on cost of containering it direct from UK? Round numbers will do.
If any one has any useful contacts or experience in this respect then that would be useful too! |

Steve,
I have a trip and route organised...was supposed to go this summer but work got in the way. Ferry from Hirtshals in Denmark to Sedysfjorder £2k (in a decent room) plus fuel, camping, three decent hotels, diving in the silfra crack, whale watching etc we were budgeting for £6k all up cost. I can give you our itinerary if you want? Cheers Ian |

I take the ferry to Iceland end of june for 3 weeks with my own bog standard 2009 Defender 110 SW.
Any suggestions on improvements to the Defender to be able to drive everywhere in Iceland? Any essential gear? Greetings, Peter |

Super write up. I got to Iceland for a city break once, but didn't get out on the road. I'd love to do a trip like yours. Thanks for sharing the pics and what not. Cheers Chris.

Amazing!
It is certainly on my list, what great memories you will have, much better than abirthday party! Michael was just telling me a story about a friend of his who slept with a land rover, lonely nights in the desert.. |

Standard will get you nearly everywhere. The only thing I would recommend is a second spare,a jerry can or two & a proper snorkel but again we really didn't need either. Good maps, a gps, a decent tent and guide books would be top of the list; and then plenty of alcohol and mossie nets for Myvatn. Great photos - I wonder what those tyres do to driveline wear and tear? |

Perfect timing for the report. I've been watching the Scandie Noir on BBC, Trapped, and whilst I want to know 'whodunnit' most of my viewing is spent imagining driving the landscape. So much appreciated and one for the bucket list.
PS. I was a bit confused by your last two or three photos, which seemed to have some colour damage to them; then I realised it was just blue sky Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |
