Driving the Evoque at LR Experience
Ok, I will admit it: the Evoque is better than I expected off-road. Drove it today at LR Experience and it didn't break!

Some good video's - thanks for sharing.

MrsK bought one a few months ago, and we had a LR Esperience day in Dunkeld, Scotland.

It's an impressive bit of kit! The terrain response makes life quite easy.

Not had it through a winter yet, but I assume it'll be good in the Aviemore snow. I'm looking for some 2nd hand wheels (maybe off a Freelander2 as they seem to be the same) and putting some winter/M+S tyres on for those dark months of snow and road salt. Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

Hmmm - MrsK does a lot of short runs (5 miles round Edinburgh bypass in rush hour). During that she gets low 30's. She's heavy-footed...

On a run we get just over 40 mpg.

But hers is the Auto, and 190 bhp. Manual would be a good bit better I expect. Also like most diesel engines, it'll probably give better mpg after a few thousand miles (under 2k miles at the mo)... Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

Thanks for info Martin also looking at 190 auto, seems reasonable economy for low mileage. Roll on Saturday and the test drive. Also taking out x3 20D M sport auto. Decisions to be made!!!

I quite like them not quite so keen on the rear view / small rear window. What's the vision like? Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

Buy a Freelander and squash the back - it's cheaper Smile This is border country and the Romans built a wall for a reason!

Visibility in the front is very sinilar to the Freelander2, the view is much better than you would expect. The huge wing mirrors and thick door A pillars do obscure roundabouts a bit. The rear view mirror isn't great, but no worse than my 110 USW Confused The huge wing mirrors give great rear view Thumbs Up

Hmmm...not really. Spec for spec, the FL2 and Evoque are similar prices. Our 190bhp Auto with sunroof, privacy glass and heated steering wheel was about 34k. It has full leather (heated), DAB radio etc. A similar spec FL2 is about the same price (FL2 XS Auto with full leather is 33,210 - just configged one on the LR site)! So was a X3 and an Audi and a Volvo XC60... They're all within 10% of each other... And I expect the Evoque to have good residuals because they're selling so well... Yep, autoboxes are so much better offroad. All it takes it a bit of left-foot braking and sometimes you can even get through without the TC activating Thumbs Up --

I was gutted I missed the chance to do the Land Rover Experience at Wiesenhof Wild park near Stellenbosch in 2008 as my plane was delayed by a day, had to make do with a drive round in a Kia Sportage!!
