United Kingdom 2007 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Java Black
Driving to Central London - June
Hi guys,

I know this isn't the most sensible of ideas so still looking into it, but basically I'm looking like I need to drive into London next month on a Thursday morning and I'm trying to find somewhere suitable to park as close to Holborn tube station as possible. Shouldn't need more than like an hour but I've got to get going up to the North of England as soon as possible afterwards. I've got a 110 on standard suspension so clearance is what... like 2m10? Anyway, what do you all recommend? I'll be driving in from the west from Oxfordshire.

Things I've considered until now are:

1) Drive in and hope to find some on street parking - unlikely
2) Drive to a train station (Didcot/Reading) and take the train in and out and then head North - Wastes a lot of time
3) Drive to a North London train station and take the train in and out - involves waking up VERY early

Any help appreciated!

Cheers

Park at Uxbridge tube station, £3.50 all day and easy access, 2 mins of M40.

Don't forger to factor in the congestion charge when you think about paying for parking, fuel etc.

It might be cheaper and easier to park further out and train it in.

Speak very nicely to our site sponsors Lookers Park Royal and see if you can arrange something with them?

They are in, as the name suggests, Park Royal, on the A40 in North West London.

Right next to the Piccadilly Line tube station, so the same line as Holborn Smile  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

There is an open air carpark just south of the Natural history museum, cost me £18 for most of the day, short walk to South Ken Tube. The good thing about this car park is that it's manned by humans and they can also keep an eye on your truck Thumbs Up

Look on google Harrintgon Road car park.

Around Holborn - there is/was on street parking around the side steets, Fetter lane etc.

You could also try Park in my Drive http://www.parkonmydrive.com/
Not used it myself but a friend of mine swears by it.

This sounds like one of the better ideas! If not then it's a risky job trying to find a space near Holborn... seen that there's plenty of on street parking nearby, but I imagine at about 9-10 am when I'm due to arrive, they'll all have been snapped up. Haven't even got anyone with me to circle... Sad

I'll send a grovelling message and promise them it will be shiny!

I used a company called RingGo in December just google it, and parked in a car park in Carey St/Serle St was more than happy to leave my Defender there, just make sure you book as a van for higher vehicles. I think it was about £16 for the day.
