As some of you may recall I've been thinking about what type of lights to put on the roof of my truck - standard halogen, HID or LED. Eventually decided on LED 40" E Series light bar from Rigid Industries supplied and fitted by Devon 4x4. 15800 Lumens.
Immediate thoughts: instant on/off very white light - makes the other lights look like candles......oh no another upgrade coming good on and off axis coverage - perfect for the moors and other places I'm travelling to I have put some piccies of the configuration here http://s1178.photobucket.com/albums/x373/DevonSteveS/ And a video here. Go a couple of minutes into the video where you will hear my boring voice explaining the 3 different settings. The quality isn't great and I will retake the video with a constant aperture camera in the next few days - but you get the gist |

Steve
Are you going to go for a mat black wrap over the bonnet or do you not get a reflection ? |

I forgot to add to my post that I do not get a reflection. I asked D44 to set the bar just far enough back that the front lip of cab roof shadows the bonnet bulge to a degree - and the thing is mounted on slides with +/- 2" of travel so I could set them farther back if i needed to There is some stray light of course on the bonnet and my passenger asked if the illuminated snorkel head bothered me - but I can't see that from the driver's seat. No plans to buy a matt black covering - that was my fall-back if the original plans did not go well......or to mount the bar directly onto the top of the bumper |

If you mounted to to the bumper you could class it as a fog light and drive round all the time within on ![]() 2011MY 110 XS USW Black |

if you put some colour over the lamps you could make your own "Northern Lights" ![]() |

Yep - looking forward to trying them in the snowy wastes of Lapland and Nordkapp - suspect that I would get serious 'white-out' if I use them in a snow storm |

If anyone is interested then as promised in the earlier post I have posted a slightly better video here. It is constant aperture and is colour balanced to 'sun/daylight' so should be a more faithful reproduction
