Ah, fair enough.

Oh no, not another one Rolling Eyes With one or two odd exceptions, all that will tell you is that people perfer the one they've bought. As that's at least partly down to what they look like, then it's too subjective to be meaningful. Darren

Yes same picture Confused

Agreed about the quality though, I looked at a Mantec one and genuine LR one that Mantec make and they both had small air pockets down the joining seem, being picky but it didn't look great aesthetically.

Yeah true about the poll I think most people will not want to say their snorkel they bought was no good Laughing
Zag, I thought that the LR genuine one was still made by Mantec? It looks the same after all. I know it's not a Snorkel but I bought some Mantec roof bar's not long ago and I've been very pleased with them.

Ah I see. £300 something though Shocked Snorkels are also great for cable routing of light bars otherwise there isn't many options

Just look at the pics. I did a kind of experiment where at the end I filled the hollow bottom and sides giving a more "gentle" shape so the air passed through more freely. So at the end I got more air (or at least faster).

However, if all this made any big difference in performance?..... Question

Something to consider is the volume of air sucked by the engine and how much air passes through the RAI at any speed. Puma 110" SW

Well I am no internal combustion engineer expert but will make the following observations.

Safari Snorkels have been making snorkels or RAI for about 30+ years and are well respected on their home territory Australia for the quality of their products.

Air charge loos? (sic)

Now if a diesel or petrol engine does not receive sufficient air then it will not run properly and in the case of diesel engine would probably emit lots of white smoke being unburnt fuel..

For maximum volume flow through any system you are best off with as laminar flow as possible which means gentle bends, smooth internal surfaces etc.

However surely a diesel engine will only suck in as much air as it needs? Too much air fed to a diesel engine would result in???? Too little air and the result would be?????

However once the air has flown through whatever brand of RAI is fitted it normally hits an AIR FILTER. The type of air filter fitted and its condition would probably have a greater effect then the shape of the most popular RAI. The so called performance filters allow more air to flow through them due to their bigger pore size.

Surprising enough the Aussies have done research into the filtration, air flow etc through various air filters and surprisingly the OEM ones come out better for 4x4 then the so called performance filters. If running a performance car in a clean environment then yes a performance filter might have some benefit.

Well, Safari people told me they have not done any research regarding their RAIs.

It is plenty of literature about charge or load loss (yes...not loos). Puma 110" SW

I like the look of these Mantec ones - I prefer the more traditional look to the big block of plastic Laughing

And you don't have to drill the wing either Thumbs Up

Just fitted a flexi lite one to mine. Bloody right faff. Looks cool though. A friend just asked me what it's for, it's for dusty sandy environments. The reply was "are we in for dusty weather then?"

Don't think it matters which one you choose, cos you'll never use it anger. Unless you have a trip to morocco planned.
