My cards on the table.
Have been a member of the forum for a short while now. With the advent of the Camping, Caravanning and Touring section, I have been pondering posting on this topic. My family own a Touring park in Weymouth, Dorset. I have been thinking about organising an annual weekend camp for Forum members, perhaps in May or June. I realise I may have left it a little late for this season. I have purposely left my parks name and web address out of posts, as I would first approach Martin about being a forum sponsor, before posting for commercial gain. My quandary is this.... We are VERY much a family based park, and being such do not normally have large groups camping here. We have built a reputation for being a peaceful park which is quiet at night. Whilst we have a pub / family bar onsite, If I were to try and organise such an event, it would be primarily a Land Rover based get together and NOT a weekend late night beer fest. Just putting my toe in the water as to whether or not this would be of interest to you all? Maybe it would not as there are already the shows that offer camping too, but if you don't ask... Rich

Sounds a great idea Thumbs Up Thanks for offering your site on a group buy rate Whistle Wink

Seriously quite a few of us have kids so the Def2 gatherings I've been on have been respectful with regards to language and late night antics...

Do you allow tents Question

we attended a similar camping weekend a couple of years ago near swanage, it was a great idea, met Mike and Margaret (Gemini's from LRO). We'd definately be up for a D2 weekend !

Also attended the London to Brighton run last year, we were all well behaved and respected others by keeping the noise down.. It would be good to be able to have camp fires

thats a fantastic idea Rich. I would love to go and put faces to names. I share your concerns as I've got two young kids and generally only go to CC sites or ones with a reputation for high standards . I can't see a Def2 gathering ending up in a riot as we all seem to be fairly respectable !
For me to attend it would have to be from the end of June onwards as thats when the Primary schools here break up for summer. As we have a long way to come we would need to stay for a week to make it worth the journey but it sounds like a lovely site !

Is it the 'one on the hill' heading towards Osmington. Heard the police are totally taking that one over for the Olympics? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!!

Oh dear, it was pieceful!!! Whistle

This sounds like a good idea, with such a large group, it would be a good idea to block out the week so as not to loose your good rep as we are a large group Thumbs Up Russell
