Fitting a Detroit locker
Hypothetical question:

Can anyone tell me - if I decided to fit a Detroit locker for my rear diff, how much work/other parts might it involve?

Because you would then want one on the front, followed by Ashcroft half shafts, then you would of wished you'd of had ARB lockers in it, so you buy them, big compressor, then Ashcroft CV's, then 35" tyres, a lift, props, a cage....

It's one thing I daren't do, next minute £20k has vanished from your account and your truck drives like Censored Thumbs Up

You do not want to strees your tranny even more and permanently. I have an ARB in the back which works brilliantly. On my my hoarding side I have as well a front trutrac waiting to be fitted. Puma 110" SW

Why would yo want to have a lockable diff in that part of the world? If thinking on keeping all tires on the ground then a truetrac is enough. The advantage of the ARB is that you can pump up the balls for the kids Laughing Puma 110" SW

detroit locker is a good bit of kit
i have one for sale on my local club site.
24 spline. £350
courier could be arranged. Mr. Green
i used this in a 3.5efi 90 with genuine v8 90 shafts no probs. 110 xs s/wagon

I agree, I had a Detroit in my Coilsprung 88 and it drive like Censored . I swapped for an ARB only works when you want it and you decide when that is Thumbs Up

A further idea to ponder, why not fit an Ashcroft Automatic Torque Biasing Limited Slip Differential in the rear instead. (Looks like a nice bit of kit, and I've 95% convinced myself I need one...) Peter
