i think its some thing to do with the fins on them the offroad ones i think are smaller but might be the other way around

As stated in the posts above, the off road spec intercooler uses a different core to the fast road spec, for easier cleaning. If your likely to be wading in deep muddy water, then the off road spec intercooler is the one for you. If your doing light green laning, then maybe a fast road spec intercooler could be the one to go for. It depends how filthy you let your car get! We do a shallow 'winch spec' intercooler that uses our off road core, as well.
Both cores are extremely efficient, and will show a negligible difference between them on most Defenders, so you'll not notice any difference in performance unless your on the ragged edge!
