I mean the bases on the underside of the fold up seats, they are made out of some form of cheap plastic and are easily damaged, there's some 400mm X 400mm plate on Ebay for around £12 per sheet so this could be done for around £50. I was going to poweder coat them as I think leaving them in natural aluminium would be a little too much 'bling'

![]() I had in my mind some farmer had some old trashed seats that he relaced the cushions with chequer plate, with the thinking of "well you can walk if you don't like it! " and his kids or farm hands sliding of the seat at every turn ![]() what you have seen sounds like a good idea, not as much fun for the driver, but still a good idea, if you do it please take a pic and put it up Mark |

Black anodising would be better than powder coating.

I prefered black but the wife and kids like the 'bling' I 'll see if they grow on me, if not i'll get them treated. Anyone know any anodiser in the Manchester area, if not i'll send them to the powder coater that does my bikes.

Interested in doing this myself what size chequer was used 400x400mm x 3 or 2mm? Also Anodising variable obviously depending on which company does it but how much roughly? My rear seats have annoying automotive carpet on them and they are the only bit that gets dirty and the only bit that you can't clean up!

I used 400 X 415mm by 2mm thick, i have n't had them anodised yet as they look ok, I used the old plastic bases and made a template then checked that fitted the bases then drilled them all together, I used this method as I found the fixing points weren't symetrical! The sheets were supplied by the company at the ebay listing below, they only charged £12.50 / sheet inc delivery. Took me a couple of hours to mark up, drill and fit. One other point, make sure you deburr the holes and round off the corners otherwise your lady passengers may ladder their tights
