It is not so strange because with the engine temp increase, the ECU change a lot of parameters ie ignition advanced, quality of pre and post injection (yes the fuel injection is developed during 5 single injections activities).....

Remember that Land Rover for mantain the "right" combustion also with bad fuel changed the timing vs the original Ford Transit set-up.
