Get them balanced!
Yes - I know I'm an idiot but anyway...

After getting "Ze lokal Cherman" garage to fit my lovely new Discoverer S/T Maxx tyres to my lovely new Dakar wheels, I noticed a bit of vibration at motorway speeds. At first I assumed it was the aggressive tyre profile (not exactly "road shoes") but thought I'd get a tyre fitter in Munich to check the balancing.

I felt so unbelievably stupid when he looked at me strangely and asked why they weren't balanced Embarassed
It never occurred to me to check Embarassed Embarassed

The local garage are the same ones who Censored up my windscreen (after "unbalancing" the wheels) Evil or Very Mad

Ride is now perfect up to 90+ mph and I'm NEVER going to the those apes again Evil or Very Mad kill Evil or Very Mad kill Evil or Very Mad

Calm... Matt Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

What's so stupid is that I have always been fanatical about alignment and balancing on every other car I've owned!
I'm probably guilty of that "it'll be fine" complacency that sets in with owning a Defender, advancing years and good medication Laughing Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

Glad you got it sorted Matt Thumbs Up

Always makes me laugh when you read, "you don"t need to balance mud tyres on a defender". I think you do.

90 Shocked mine rides well and no drift or vibrations at high speed but 90......not sure i would want to do an emergency stop or swerve in a 90 or even a 110 at that speed, and thats from someone who knows very fast cars.

perhaps it's me but when the speedo reached 80, which is probably 75 thats enough for me. perhaps i'm a whimp Confused BM52

Autobahns are wide and I'm in the slow lane Laughing
I'm used to doing 200 km/h (125 mph) in an Audi A2...

aha European motorways are sooo much better - M25 or the old stretches of the M1 are not my favourite roads.
